David Allen was one of the great vocalists of the New York cabaret scene of the 1950's and early 1960's who never quite reached the heights of fame of many of his contemporaries but nonetheless was revered and regaled by the many who were lucky enough to catch his live performances. His professional career started in the early 1940's while he was still in his teens and throughout the 1950's he appeared on television shows such as Steve Allen's (no relation) Tonight Show and even hosted his own radio show in 1959 on CBS radio. Fortunately, this classic 1964 album exists and provides a wonderful insight into this gifted vocalist. David is featured here backed by an orchestra arranged and conducted by the great Bob Florence.
