The 'Queen of the Blues' is most remembered today for "Mad About The Boy", and "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes!", which won her a Grammy in 1959. She had began singing as a teenager, and gradually established herself as one of the most popular blues, R&B and jazz vocalists of the era. Her success brought her plenty of wealth, and she became known as a big spender on luxurious fur coats, cars, jewellery, drink and drugs. She also managed to squeeze an impressive eight marriages into her life, before a premature death at the age of 39 from an accidental overdose of sleeping pills.
