ANITA ELLIS - A LEGEND SINGS (1979)
Shared by KLR. Thanks.
A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing - Spring will be a little late this year
Anyone Can Whistle
What Is This Thing Called Love? 4 Four Walls (and One Dirty Window) Blues
Who Can I Turn To?
Lazy Afternoon
Prelude to a Kiss
I Hear Music
Porgy and Bess, Act I: Summertime
Wait Till You See Him
But Beautiful
I wonder what became of me
Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child
A 1979 LP of tracks cut for the PBS show For the Record. Both Ellises were profiled in books by Whitney Balliett, which reveal a pair of artists of remarkable eccentricity. Both were extremely talented, too; Anita unfortunately suffered from crippling stage fright, and made few recordings; this is my favorite, combining her powerful chops and marvelous interpretations with Larkins' unflagging sensitivity, talent, and nuance.
