NANCY WILSON - KALEIDOSCOPE (1971)
It's a rarity. Hope you enjoy it.
A1. The Greatest Performance Of My Life
A2. If I Were Your Woman
A3. I'll Get Along Somehow
A4. Middle Of The Road
A5. Let It Be Me
B1. To Be The One You Love (From The Film "The Anonymous Venetian")
B2. Mr. Bojangles
B3. Ain't No Sunshine
B4. Everyone Knows
B5. Once In My Lifetime
One of the nicer albums from a period when Nancy was experimenting with a style that was a lot more overblown and sophisticated than that on some of her earlier pop hits. The record's kind of approaching late Reprise Sinatra styles – with large arrangements by James Mack that expand the tracks into tiny little pop symphonies filled with a lot of emotion. However, Phil Wright also gets in a few arrangements – on the more stripped-down groovy soul covers like "If I Were Your Woman" and "Ain't No Sunshine". Whatever the case, though, Nancy makes the album a nice one – even on tracks like "The Greatest Performance Of My Life", "Once In My Lifetime", "Middle Of the Road", and "I'll Get Along Somehow".
