Shortly after arriving in California, she was signed by the Chess-Argo label and subsequently recorded the album “For the First Time” backed by such musicians as Ramsey Lewis, Eddie Harris, Plas Johnson and John Collins. However, after marrying her American husband, Shelley decided to concentrate on family life and raising her two children.
