Lee Rogers was to D-Town what Marvin Gaye was to Motown – a singer whose voice was rooted in gospel that rocked alongside soulful, funky dance grooves. “Sock Some Love Power To Me!” features the Billboard Top 20 R&B hit, “I Want You To Have Everything.,” “You’re the Cream of the Crop” (featuring legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson) as well as “Love For A Love,” a 1967 track Lee recorded with the Hi Records rhythm section in Memphis (under the leadership of Al Green’s future producer Willie Mitchell). Other releases in the Motor City Soul Soldiers series include anthologies of the Fabulous Peps, Dee Edwards, the Magictones and Cody Black.
