This 1962 release by Miss Lee Scott (the first of two in 1962) was seemingly intended to cash in on the ‘cool’ trend of June Christy, Barbara Long, et al, judging by the title and performances.  If that was the intent, this was released a little after that trend was the tail end of that jazz vocal trend.  But, vocally, Lee Scott gives her performances the right feel for this, including occasionally hitting her notes not quite center pitch-wise (much like both June Christy and Barbara Long), as well as every once in a while singing ever so slightly behind the beat.  All those comparisons aside, she was no copycat.  Vocally, her tone quality is dissimilar to the aforementioned comparisons, being nicely light and bright, yet never strident.  This heretofore relatively unknown effort is a welcome addition to the early-60’s jazz vocal canon of tidbits that are now being rediscovered in this digital era.  Other than this and her other 1962 release, I have been unable to find any mention of further recording ventures by her.  Though nothing outstanding, both are enjoyable to hear, begging the listener to light a fire, pour a cocktail, and relax into these relatively hidden treasures.
